About the Author
Anirudh Acharya holds a Ph.D. in mathematics and is a visual artist who writes haiku and short poetry. As a mathematician by training, he works in a field far from literature, but he has long been drawn to the written word, especially poetry in brief forms. He has been reading and writing haiku-like poetry for many years. His work reflects on impermanence, quiet moments, and the spaces between thought and feeling. This is his first collection of poems.

“A lot has been written about haiku, and how a good haiku needs to be constructed. I would rather not talk about any of that. I am therefore happy to refer to every poem in the book as being haiku-like.
 
Many of these poems came to me when I stopped trying. I am often left not with the feeling of having created something, but of having caught something.
 
It begins with noticing. A moment with quiet weight, like the jasmine in someone’s hair, the gesture someone makes, or the sunlight on a cat’s body. When you pay it attention, it gives you the words, without effort. Poetry that asks you to step aside.
 
I live in Chennai, where I have spent almost all my life. I trust that as you read these poems, glimpses of a life there will emerge quietly.”
