The Well
What a surplus stock of tears one holds.
They may hide in sorrow.
They may appear in joy.
They are the moss-covered river stones I try to manoeuvre.
Alluring in their round existence,
unmoving under a sheet of ripples. In the space made pure by pools
of word and sun, love and loneliness.
If it is man or woman, the same well is moved.
A well who breaks into a jigsaw of roles.
A well who laps against scars and wounds.
A well who sings of perpetual impulse. What moves you?
Please deliberate.
Chew those bones and transpose them onto paper
for a scroll of sticks and stones to roll out.The nuance in the pitch of truth.
A truth who tells us
we are inheritors of imperfection.
A civilization propped up by its trees
whose bridges are wisdom-roots poised and grounded.
Its rivers swelling, shrinking,
persisting to retain structure.
Its caves who outline subterranean light
exposing storied earth.May rain-tears pause you
as they stir jigsaw breaths,
as they appease scars and wounds,
as they stride undulated impulse.
