Dreaming of homes
Nest, that cliche
the dream home, another one!
Who dreams in brick and lime
or polish and paint
or the contrived smoothness
of blemish-less walls.I have long loved the notion
of sliding, through burrows,
moist earth and soft roots
enveloping the flesh,
A blind earthworm
probing on, seeking homes.Returning to an old home
pure as a pregnant sea.Where do I return to when
I am distilled, and sprayed,
scattered in torrents? Will I
be sucked up by hungry plants?
Will leaves be the new town,
the forest, once again, my nation? Will I nestle among rocks, as
the inert dust, of spent things?Contents
