Your skin is too fragile
I’m afraid you’ll break
You have been fostered
Like sunshine raises roses
Step back and come along
Inside a little chest of poems
Cover your skin with mine
It has already been bruised
I’ve been cut and torn
I was not loved by them
My love resides far away
Inside my very chest
My skin will cover you
From what is to come
You wear it till you grow
Heroic and valiant
I might be away from you
But my skin will shelter
When a graze makes you cry
I’ll cry with you
For the skin is mine
I’ll feel your pain too
